PIANO FACT

The pianoforte was invented by Bartolomeo Cristofori around the year 1700. It was the first keyboard instrument with the capability to play both soft (piano) and loud (forte), hence the name. It was based on the harpsichord, but with a brand new action consisiting of hammers operated by the piano keys, which struck strings to produce the tone. The earliest pianos were only 4 - 4 1/2 octaves (29 - 34 notes) long; today's models have 88 keys. The design was continually improved until the middle of the 19th century, when the piano became the instrument which is still in use today. Our pianos combine the best modern materials with classic design resulting in an instrument with a rich tone and responsive touch suitable for pianists of every standard.
